Have you ever thought of another person as being “A real person of faith?” When we say that we usually mean they are a person of strong Christian virtue that is evident in how they live. I would suggest to you that everyone is a person of faith, but it’s the object of that faith that is the difference in the evidence produced from that person’s life. Jesus taught that even a very small faith, the size of a mustard seed, could move mountains. I have met many followers of Islam that are strong people of faith, but their faith is in the wrong place. People will display their faith in all kinds of things from a simple chair to support their weight, to a bank to keep their money safe, to a politician to keep their word, to having faith in other people to meet their deepest needs. To be human means to live with faith in something.

When the object people put their faith in turns out to let them down, the search begins for a better object for their faith to be placed in. On Sunday we will look at the life of a woman who had a chronic illness and had exhausted many potential objects for her faith to be healed, only to be disappointed. Finally, she came to Jesus, making him the object of her faith and she was made whole – she was healed. The object of your faith matters more than the amount of faith you may be able to muster up. What is the object of your faith? Join me this Sunday as we will see Jesus invites us to find the right object of our faith in Him.
